2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs 2018 Lexus RX 350

Proudly Serving Atlanta, GA

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC and Lexus RX are luxury SUVs for the record books. They provide the kind of interior cabins that simply go above and beyond to pamper both driver and passengers in the vehicle. Which one actually comes out ahead in the long run, though? We’re here to examine both SUVs and determine which one wins out on key features like performance, interior materials, and safety features. We think you’ll agree that while both SUVs are as handsome as they come, the Mercedes-Benz GLC goes the extra mile to emerge victorious in several key area.

Performance

While the horsepower of the base model Lexus RX is just a bit beyond that of the GLC (290 horsepower for the RX and 241 horsepower for the GLC), the Mercedes-Benz manages to offer a higher horsepower if you’re willing to go to a higher trim. In the end, the GLC goes up to 315 horsepower while the RX caps out at only 308 horsepower. And trust us, thanks to the transmission that you get with the GLC, you’ll want to go with as much power as you can to experience the exhilaration of driving a GLC at peak performance. The GLC offers a 9-speed automatic transmission with Shift Paddles, so that’s an experience all unto itself. Overall, we’re going with the GLC in the performance department thanks to its flawless transmission and comfort as well as overall power.

Interior Perks

The GLC throws in a lot of extras on the interior. The ash wood trim on the interior of the GLC is something straight out of a luxury sedan. You’re going to love the comfortable, premium feel of the interior materials, along with memory exterior mirrors and power headrests for maximum comfort during every adventure outdoors in this one. It’s the perfect family vehicle for the family that demands more.

Safety

Both of these vehicles get high marks for their safety equipment. You’ll find traction and stability control, rearview camera, and automatic braking (although this is optional on both). Mercedes goes the extra mile, though, with features like a driver attention monitor (DRIVER ASSIST) that can be very handy for drivers who have very long trips ahead of them. It’s the perfect safety feature for drivers who often have to drive when they’re distracted or tired. And that can mean the difference between life and death on the road, so if we’re going to choose one of these in the safety department, we’re going with the GLC!

We truly appreciate the quality of both of these vehicles. Lexus, too, put a lot of love and care to craft a great vehicle here, but the GLC just manages to do a little bit “more” in every category to make it the more appealing of the two vehicles. If you’re already a Mercedes fan, the GLC will not disappoint you or deviate from the well-known reputation of the brand. If you’ve never owned a Mercedes-Benz before, this one could be your first of many masterpieces to come. If you want to test drive the GLC, we invite you to our dealership to look over the GLC, take it out on the road, or sample certain features that appeal to you. We think that many fans of the Mercedes brand are going to absolutely love this vehicle and what Mercedes has done to make it so comfortable and powerful for its new generation of drivers.
