 What’s New for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450?

Mercedes-Benz has undergone some significant character changes this generation, but the GS 450 is mostly unchanged. Let’s start with the name change. Mercedes-Benz has renamed all of its SUVS to match the sedan lineup. For example, the GL SUV is now the redefined GLS. Now, it’s truly an S-class Mercedes-Benz writ large. There are four different GLS models to choose from, but the GLS 450 presents the sweet spot between value and price.

The exterior of the GLS 450 has a wider front grille than the previous model, which pushes the front headlamps further out to the sides. The 2017 GLS 450 seems to sprout wings with this new design. The rear end has also been revisited. The tail lights and chrome-accented rear bumper now have chrome-tipped dual exhaust pipes to boot. Additionally, the interior changes focus on driver interface. The central screen is now eight inches. The center console now has the COMAND® touchpad controller just like the other vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. The COMAND® touchpad allows you to control everything from entertainment to navigation with a rotary knob that naturally fits the hand.

There have been some changes under the hood for the rest of the GLS models, but the 2017 GLS 450 keeps its predecessor’s 3.0 Liter V6 biturbo engine. It’s still quite powerful, pushing out 362 horsepower and a 7,500 lb. towing capacity. Everything from the name change to the stylistic upgrades are aimed at putting even more value into an already forward-looking SUV. You really just have to come by your local Mercedes-Benz dealer and get behind the wheel. Take a test drive, kick the tires and you’ll understand why the 2017 GLS 450 is sending competitors on the run. If you have any questions about these great new features, our friendly and knowledgeable staff will help you find the best options available.
